Volunteer Opportunities

The Piatt County Emergency Management Agency welcomes residents who are interested in helping support their community during emergencies and disasters. Volunteers play an important role in preparedness, response, and recovery efforts.

While emergency responders handle immediate life-saving operations, trained volunteers can assist with a variety of support functions that help communities recover more quickly.

How Volunteers Help

EMA volunteers may assist with activities such as:

  • Disaster damage assessments
  • Public preparedness education
  • Community outreach events
  • Emergency shelter support
  • Weather spotting
  • Training and exercise participation
  • Search and Rescue

Volunteers may also assist with community preparedness initiatives that help residents better prepare for emergencies.

Who Can Volunteer

Volunteers should:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have an interest in community service and public safety
  • Be willing to complete basic training if required
  • Be able to assist during emergencies when available

Prior experience in emergency services is not required, though it is welcomed.
